have restricted them. it's been a very tough economic environment for these businesses to thrive. so, it's noted that perhaps there is some anticipation of a republican win in office and businesses may want to take on more risk, but you know, there's many months to go before this election where we're going to see both sides of the aisle to spin these economic numbers, whether or not they're good, bad or ugly and so this is one way he did it. one month does not make a trend, guys, this was, this was a decent report on the economy, a drop in unemployment, but not one to say, hey, things are moving in the right direction, not yet at least. >> dave: sandra smith, i am shocked at you wearing alabama red the day before the lsu tigers play for the national title. wow. >> wow, you caught me. you caught me, i'll be wearing purple tomorrow. >> dave: go tide-- >> go tigers. >> dave: thanks, sandra. >> mike: newt gingrich creating controversy for saying this. >> i'll go to the convention

director of the naacp washington bureau. thank you for being here. >> thank you. >> mr. shelton, i want to start with you. you are the director of the naacp washington bureau, what did you make of that comment? >> well, it was very reckless, erroneous, it was racially based, it was problematic in so many ways and seemed to be playing on the age old stereo type that somehow the majority of those who receive food stamps in the country are african-american which is not true and the fact he said it in iowa where it's less true makes it more problematic. >> what are your thoughts on this? >> i thought it was provocative, but it wasn't productive and it wasn't worthy of the former speak. the fact of the people on relief are young, white and female and in this time of economic want we need a conversation on jobs, what we can do to get back on track as a nation and this did not do that. >> and to your point, and both of your points, actually, we have some statistics and you can see them there and for a second on the right-hand side of your screen. 22%, only 22% of the people
